In this article, I thought of sharing my story how I started a home based business and ended up getting customers locally and internationally.
What kind of business am I doing?
Probably you’ve guessed it…it’s network marketing.
Whenever someone heard the phrase network marketing or multi level marketing (MLM), most people will have a negative perception.
To be honest, I had the same negative perception also.
If that is the case, why I still get involved with MLM business?
That is a fair question, please allow me to explain.
My working career
Back in the year 2010, I was working as a Human Resource Manager for an office equipment manufacturing company in Kuala Lumpur.
The following year I resigned from my job and got married to my husband.
The year after that, we had our first child.
2 years later, we had our second child.
In a blink of an eye, 6 years have gone by.
That was how long I became a full time housewife and mother.
As a woman, I believe in financial independence.
I don’t want to fully rely on my husband financially.
I also want to contribute to my family economically and financially.
In the year 2016, I decided to get back into employment.
Back then, I thought since I was a HR Manager at my previous post, I could at least get a new job as a HR Manager.
But how wrong I was!
I sent out more than 90 resumes and went on 7 job interviews and none of the companies wanted to hire me.
The reason was the 6 years gap of not working in my employment record.
The interviewers felt that I might not be up to date with the latest HR matters in Malaysia therefore they rejected me.
To be honest, it was very hard for me to accept all the rejections.
I was desperate and even considered taking a HR Executive posting if it was offered to me.
Going into home business
After my unsuccessful attempt trying to get back into employment, I decided to start my own home based business.
Back then, I thought to myself, “What business should I start?“.
That question lead me to actively looking for business opportunities.
My lucky break came in November 2017 when I was introduced to my current business mentor and coach.
From my mentor’s coaching and guidance, I realised that I should not be doing everything by myself.
I was advised to partner with a company that can provide me a platform to support my home business.
That was when I was introduced to BE International.
Back then, I have never heard of the company before and there were a lot of questions floating in my head.
Is BE International a pyramid scheme?
What does the company do?
Is it even a legal company?
Both me and my husband actually spent some time to check out the company.
We’ve even met with one of the company’s founders.
After we’ve did our research on BE International, we were satisfied that the company is legal and proper.
Next, we wanted to know what kind of product the company has to offer.
There were quite a number of product offered but my focus was on the company’s core product which is the Aulora Pants with Kodenshi.
When I was doing my research, I was amazed that the Aulora Pants can provide so many health benefits to the user.
At that time, I was looking for something to help relieve my back pain and leg cramps.
Can the Aulora Pants help to relieve bodily pain?
The person that introduced the Aulora Pants to me said the pants can definitely help.
I was naïve enough to trust a stranger I got to know from Facebook and everything turn out just fine.
The pants did help to relieve my back pain and leg cramps after 2 weeks of wearing it.
My positive results after trying the Aulora Pants gave me some confidence on the product.
With that, me and my husband kick started our network marketing business by partnering with BE International and selling the Aulora Pants as our core product.
From local to international
How did my network marketing business grew with customer based in Malaysia to getting customers from overseas?
How my home based business became an export business without large capital investment?
In this section, I want to share 4 things that contributed to my home based business becoming an export business.
These are:
- The product
- The internet
- The payment method
- The delivery system
1. The product
Firstly, the core product from BE International which is the Aulora Pants with Kodenshi is ideal for international business.
The Aulora Pants brand name is owned exclusively by BE International.
The pants is 100% made in Japan and BE International has the worldwide distribution rights.
The Aulora Pants being a garment can be easily exported to another country.
When I am sending the pants from Malaysia to other country, I have never encounter any issue with the custom authority of the respective country.
The only thing you have to consider if you are planning to do export business is the import tax of the individual country.
2. The internet
Next, my home based business became an export business because of the internet.
Anyone from around the world can get to know of your product because of the reach of the internet.
A good example is this blog.
I received a lot of enquiries on the Aulora Pants from prospects outside of Malaysia because of the product related articles that I’ve published on this blog.
Other than my blog, I also use other web properties such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok etc.
3. The payment method
The next thing that helped to bring my home based business to reach the international market is the payment method when an oversea prospect wants to place an order for the Aulora Pants.
Previously, when someone wanted to place an order, they have to make payment using Western Union which is slow and cumbersome.
Some buyers also requested to pay using Paypal but I have to declined because the transaction fee is very high and the seller has to pay the fee.
Now, a simpler, cheaper and faster payment method has appeared in the market and it is known as Wise.
Wise is a mobile application from a fintech company.
It is easier to use and many of my international buyers are surprised at the cheap rates the service charges.
As a seller, the fund transfer is also very fast.
From my experience, usually I will receive the fund transfer in my bank account within 12 hours when the buyer made the transfer on Wise.
4. The delivery system
Finally, it is the delivery system that helped my home business to serve international buyers.

What I like about the international courier service nowadays is the delivery guy will pick up the parcel from my home.
A buyer’s journey
In this section, I will share with you an international buyer’s journey when she placed an order for the Aulora Pants from me.
Not too long ago, I got a WhatsApp message from a lady in California, United States of America (USA).
She asked me how she can purchase the Aulora Pants with Kodenshi in California.
She had found me from one of the article posted on my blog.
After a few Whatsapp messages exchange, she agreed to purchase 3x pairs of the Aulora Pants.
I explained to her the purchase process and how I can help her to register for a BE International membership account, lock in her order and courier her parcel to her using international courier service.
BE International has a One World One Account concept where if you are a nationality where BE does not have an office, you can register a BE Malaysia member account.
I calculated her total order amount and also added the international courier charges from Kuala Lumpur to California, USA for a 2 kg parcel.
And then she asked me, “How do I pay you?”
I recommended her to use the Wise mobile application and she can download the app for free from Google Playstore and also Apple Appstore.
Since the lady in California has never used the app before, I sent a YouTube video on how to use Wise.
I also sent her all my banking details because I know she will need them.
She followed the instruction in the video and then sent me a screenshot of her transaction on Wise.
In the app, it says I should be receiving the international fund transfer within 4 hours.
Previously when a customer paid me using Western Union, it will take 2 – 3 working days for me to receive the fund transfer in my bank account.
Guess what?
With Wise, I received the full amount in Ringgit Malaysia (RM) in my bank account within 4 hours!
I then asked the California lady for her details and registered a BE Malaysia member account for her.
Since the company will only do free delivery of the Aulora Pants order within Malaysia, I put down my KL home address and acted as her local receiver for her parcel.
When I received her parcel, I repacked and sent it to her California address using international courier service that I booked using Easyparcel.
There you have it, that is how my network marketing business is being run from my home and I have customers from both locally and internationally.
That is one of the benefits of BE’s unique product where there are high demands from all over the world.
