Recently, a friend of mine who is an avid tennis player asked me if the new Aulora Arm Sleeves with Kodenshi from Japan by BE International can help to relieve pain caused by tennis elbow.
When he first asked me the question, I wasn’t very sure and had to look up the answer.
What is tennis elbow?
According to NHS UK:
“Tennis elbow is a condition that causes pain around the outside of the elbow.
It’s clinically known as lateral epicondylitis.
It often happens after overuse or repeated action of the muscles of the forearm, near the elbow joint.”
People with tennis elbow will experience pain on the outside of the elbow, which may travel down the forearm when:
- Lifting or bending their arm
- When gripping small objects such as a pen, pencil or stylus
- When twisting their forearm, such as turning a door key, door handle or opening a jar
I understood now that tennis elbow does not occur only on people that play tennis.
It is a form of elbow joint injury!
What is the cause of tennis elbow?
According to Mayo Clinic website:
“Tennis elbow is an overuse and muscle strain injury.
The cause is repeated contraction of the forearm muscles that you use to straighten and raise your hand and wrist.
The repeated motions and stress to the tissue may result in a series of tiny tears in the tendons that attach the forearm muscles to the bony prominence at the outside of your elbow.”
It seems playing tennis, especially repeated use of the backhand stroke with poor technique is one possible cause of tennis elbow.
As per the Mayo Clinic website, there are many other common arm motions can cause tennis elbow, such as:
- Using plumbing tools
- Doing painting work
- Manually turning screws with a screw driver
- Cutting up cooking ingredients, particularly meat
- Prolong use of a computer mouse
Now, coming back to the question, can the Aulora Arm Sleeves help to relieve pain caused by tennis elbow?
I believe wearing the compression arm sleeves can help but the results will vary according to individual.
Reason being, pre-existing condition of the wearer’s elbow joint will affect the result of wearing the Aulora Arm Sleeves.
The Aulora Arm Sleeves is made with the same material as the far infrared ray (FIR) emitting Aulora Pants which is the Kodenshi fabric from Japan.
When the Kodenshi material touches your skin, it will absorb your body heat and emits natural far infrared ray.
Far infrared ray treatment has been used to treat bodily pain and injuries.
I believe the Aulora Arm Sleeves can help to relieve pain caused by tennis elbow but the only way to know for sure is to try it.
