Above is a picture of me and my wife, Mommy Lynn when we visited Universal Studio in Osaka, Japan.

My wife and I have been building our home based business since March 2018.

We did quite well in our business.

Our trip to Osaka was fully sponsored by the company that we’ve partnered with through the yearly sales campaign.

The sales campaign is held twice a year where the qualifier can get to travel overseas free of charge!

This is one of the many benefits building a home business.

The business that we are engaged in are similar to dropshipping.

In this article, I am going to share with you three ways that you can start your dropship business in Malaysia with minimal cost.

Why you should start a home based business doing dropshipping?

Most of us we know that we can actually dropship physical products as an online or offline seller.

In fact, there are 3 types of product you can sell through dropshippping.

These are:

  • Physical product
  • Digital product
  • Services

Firstly, before you start a dropshipping business, you have to find the products that you want to dropship.

To do this, we have to look for a supplier to dropship the products and then you can list the products on platform like Shopee, Lazada or your own Shopify website.

When a prospect placed an order, you can just order from your supplier and the supplier will ship to our customer.

Simple, right?

That is how a typical dropsshipping business works.

In any dropshipping business, you need to understand that there are 2 fixed variable that you cannot change.

These fixed variables are:

  • Your customer’s orders
  • Ordering the product from your supplier

However, the variable which you can change in a dropshipping business is your “Product”.

The product that you sell can be a physical or digital item.

The product can even be a type of service.

Since your products have changed from physical, digital or services, your suppliers will also have to change as well.

When you change your product, your supplier can change from a traditional wholesale platform, an offline store, a freelancer or any platform that sells digital products.

Some people do not know that they can actually dropship a service.

How does this work?

Here’s an example.

Let’s say you have a client that wants to buy products from Shopee.

Because your client is located overseas, he cannot get access to Shopee Malaysia.

What kind of service can you offer to your overseas client?

Well, you can provide a type of service for him via dropshipping.

You can help your client to buy the product from Shopee Malaysia, receive his item, repack and send to his overseas address using international courier service.

The fact is, you don’t have to do all the above work.

You can find a freelancer that is willing to fulfill all the above services.

What I am trying to say is, you are not personally doing the fulfilment.

You are actually engaging a supplier to do the fulfilment for you.

That is how you provide a service to your client using dropshipping.

Where can you find service suppliers?

A good place to find service suppliers is at Fiverr.com/.

Digital products

How do you dropship digital product?

Dropshipping digital product is like selling ebook or audiobook.

Whenever you have a buyer of your digital product, all you have to do is get their email address and you can just send the product directly to your customer.

Dropshipping tips

In this section, I will share some tips on running a dropshipping business in Malaysia.

Firstly, when you get an order, you must contact the seller before you dropship the product.

You want to make sure the stock that your customer ordered is available.

You also want your seller to be aware of your order just in case there is a refund or return from your customer.

If you have an order for a service, when you are in Fiverr, do not let your customer pay directly to the seller / fulfiller.

This is because you cannot trace the payment if the other party says that he / she has already made payment.

There is no tracking and you cannot prove that they already sent the money.

Your customer has to pay you directly and when you receive the payment, you pay your seller / fulfiller.

Make sure you do not automate the money collection and payment process or you might end up loosing money.

There you have it, 3 low cost ways to start a dropshipping business in Malaysia.
