My wife and I have been building our network marketing business using the BE International business opportunity since March 2018.
We did quite well in the business.
Our trip to Hong Kong was fully sponsored by BE International when we qualified for the BE Lifestyle Travel campaign.
BE Lifestyle Travel campaign is a sales campaign held twice a year where the qualifier can get to travel overseas free of charge.
This is one of the many benefits building the BE business.
Not too long ago, I wrote an article explaining how a man above the age of 50 can generate passive income by building a network marketing business.
A man in his 50s still have around 10 years for him to save up for his retirement.
In this article, I thought of writing and article explaining how a retired man in his 60s can generate passive income by building a network marketing business.
Retirement age
Now that you are in your retirement age, hopefully you have enough money saved up in your EPF account.
The fact is, most Malaysian do not have enough money saved up for retirement.
According to www.nst.com.my:
“Will Malaysia soon face a retirement crisis, given that almost 40 per cent of its citizens do not have a retirement plan?
Only 4.0 per cent of Malaysians could afford retirement, according to the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) calculations from the previous year.
Increased expense of living in today’s world and withdrawals of substantial portion of their savings from the EPF during the pandemic had caused some members to experience poverty even before they can retire, a market insider said.”
Whatever the amount of money you have saved up, you have to make it last during your retirement.
The money that you’ve saved up has to sustain you and your wife until the age of 75 and above.
Can your savings in your EPF or bank account last that long?
If not, probably you need to find another option to generate an income source.
What option do you have?
Why not start a home based business?
As a retiree, you should not be taking on any unnecessary risk because if you were to loose your money, it is going to be very hard to recover financially because you don’t have much time.
What you can do is start a low risk home based business where you do not need to have large capital investment.
A direct selling or MLM business can give you that!
It is low risk because you do not have to keep any stock.
You may be saying, “Direct selling, MLM or network marketing business is not your cup of tea”.
But now that you are in your retirement age, what other low risk and low capital business option do you have?
As far as I know, a network marketing business can give you that option.
Robert Kiyosaki actually wrote about the power of a network marketing business to generate passive income in his book The Business School, For People Who Like Helping People (Rich Dad’s – The Eight Hidden Values of a Network Marketing Business, Other Than Making Money).
Our story
If you didn’t know our story, my wife and I was looking for a business opportunity back in 2017.
My wife saw a comment on Facebook on how a stay at home mom can make an extra RM1000.00 per month at home through a new business opportunity.
When my wife told me that she found a great business opportunity, I had a feeling that it was direct selling.
I really didn’t want to do MLM business because I have tried it twice and failed when I was in my late twenties.
Reluctantly, I had to do the BE business because my wife needed help to build the business but luckily things turned out good for us.
Back then we weren’t thinking of earning passive income because we just wanted to earn a few hundred Ringgit extra per month.
But as we kept building our BE business, we kept sponsoring more and more people as our customers into our team.
Most of them are just product users and a few became business builders.
After 2 years of building our network marketing business with BE, I noticed that the commission and bonus generated from all the product users in our team was quite substantial.
However, the income is not pure passive income because we still have to provide customer service to them.
It is a semi-passive income!
This was as close to passive income as we could get.
The pure passive income from the BE business are the Car Fund and House Fund.
Nonetheless, we are very grateful for what we’ve achieved so far.
Use your experience
When you are above the age of 60, you would have accumulated vast life knowledge and working experience.
You can make use of your knowledge and experience in building a direct selling business.
Business is all above creating trust and building relationship.
When you are a senior person in Malaysia, young people tend to trust and respect you.
When you share information with them, they will listen.
Therefore, doing sales when you are in your 60s is not as hard as you thought.
Probably you will need some help with the marketing aspect of your business because you may not be familiar using digital marketing strategy with social media such as TikTok, YouTube, Facebook etc.
But don’t worry, if you don’t know how to use digital marketing, you can always ask your sponsor to assist you.
Conclusion
How would your retirement lifestyle be different if you have an extra RM2000.00 coming into your bank account every month?
This is not something unachievable because my wife and I did it through a network marketing business by partnering with BE International.
If you are above the age of 60 in Malaysia, the opportunity is still available for you to earn extra income with BE.
All you have to do is make your decision and do it!
